Why Windows Vista Ultimate?
Selecting the right operating system when you buy a new laptop or PC has never been more important. With various versions of Vista available, you don't want to get lumbered with an OS that gives you limited functionality and sacrifices features that are important to you.
According to a recent PC Advisor survey, 73 percent of PC and laptop users were not informed by sales staff when they bought their systems that different versions of Windows were available to them, and many buyers don't think to ask about higher-end versions of Microsoft's OS.
How BitLocker can secure your laptop
BitLocker is Windows Vista Ultimate's on-disk encryption system. It encrypts the computer's boot drive, making data on it unreadable to unauthorised users - someone who's just made off with your laptop at the airport, for example. Without a boot key - either a manually entered PIN, a USB flash drive or a secure module on the PC itself - everything on a BitLocker-encrypted drive is indistinguishable from random data.
