After 244 years Encyclopedia Britannica will stop publishing its flagship books and concentrate on its digital offerings. Sony’s new Xperia sola lets users interact with the phone without touching the screen. While the craze this week may be around Apple’s iPad, Android based tablets will lead the market by 2015. Video: Businesses still rebuilding 12 months after tsunami in Japan
Three weeks after a magnitude nine earthquake triggered massive tsunami waves along Japan's northeast coast, mud, cars and debris were still piled high around a Sony factory in Tagajo. A year later, most of the debris is gone, although repairs continue.

A series of solar flares are erupting on the sun's surface and can interfere with satellite and radio signals. Microsoft will soon shut down the app store for Windows Mobile, the OS that it is phasing out. Apple's new A5X chip may not make it into iPhones, according to analysts.

Apple’s newest iPad was dubbed just that—the ‘new iPad’ and shown in side-by-side comparisons with the iPad 2 for screen quality demonstrations on Wednesday in San Francisco. Vice President of Marketing Philip Schiller said the new iPad’s retina display makes content look clean and crisp, with no visible pixelation.
