Samsung debuted its Galaxy S 4 smartphone at a lavish press conference in New York Thursday.

The S4 builds on the success of its predecessor and includes a 5 inch screen and depending on the market a quad cord 1.9 gigahertz processor or an octa-core 1.6 gigahertz processor. It’s screen is a Super AMOLED with an impressive 441 pixels per inch. We got a chance to see some of the features including new gesture controls.

The phone will be available in 155 countries starting at the end of April. In the US it will be released in the second quarters. Pricing was not announced.

Samsung on Thursday highlighted many new features in its latest Galaxy S 4 smartphone during a Broadway-style presentation, but was surprisingly quiet about the technology that tracks facial and eye movement, which could enhance the video and browsing experience on the device.
