Video: The Byte - Lenovo, Intel ThinkPad, Verizon spectrum licenses, USPS regulation, Twitter digest

Lenovo is working with Intel on a future ThinkPad tablet based on Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system. Lenovo is targeting business customers by using Intel chips that support existing and legacy applications already running on Windows. The tablets will be available when Microsoft releases Windows 8.

A coalition of consumer advocates, business, and trade groups formed to oppose Verizon's proposed purchase of 3.6 billion dollars worth of spectrum licenses from leading cable companies. The group warns that this deal would make it impossible for smaller carriers to compete. Verizon's deal with the cable companies is currently under review.

The U.S. Postal Service will no longer ship iPads, iPhones, or laptops overseas starting May 16. USPS says that lithium batteries pose too great a risk to be shipped internationally as the batteries are not permitted in international mail. Products can still be shipped with UPS and FedEx before the restriction is lifted in January.

Twitter will begin delivering a weekly email digest to highlight specific tweets a user might be interested in. The overview will feature tweets from people a user interacts most with as well as the user's own feed. Tweeters can expect to receive emails within the next few weeks.
