Yahoo is accusing Facebook of copying a range of technologies relating to advertising, privacy, customization and more that the search company invented. Facebook said it was surprised by the move, finding out about it the same time as the rest of the world. It denies all allegations.
Twitter has acquired blogging company Posterous for an undisclosed amount. Poserterous started in San Francicso in 2008 and Twitter indicated that it acquired the company with an eye on its staff. The company’s founder and CEO will become a product manager at Twitter.
GM and NASA are working on a robotic glove,based off the space robot R2, that the companies hope will reduce repetitive stress injuries. Called the K-glove it’s aimed at use on assembly lines and in space to help a wearer hold a grip longer and more comfortably.
A next generation web cam from Microsoft Research can capture stereo movie and high accuracy depth imags at the same time. Users can chat in 3D, but can also play gesture controlled games. The cam includes a hardware accelerator and costs about the same as current webcams.
