While Apple still dominates the tablet game, Amazon has rocketed to second place. Amazon shipped nearly 4 million Kindle fires in Q4 2011, which is enough to grab 14 percent of the tablet market. Apple is still number one with 57 percent.

Google is making changes to its Chrome OS to reduce the number of times that Chromebooks drop their connections to Wi-Fi networks. Google believes the problem is caused in areas with heavy Wi-Fi traffic or a lot of electrical noise.

Researchers think that solid state drives have a bleak outlook. As the circuitry shrinks performance drops dramatically and issues such as read and write latency and data errors increase. The performance gap with hard disks also becomes narrower.

Android 5.0 Jelly Bean might be on the horizon.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich hasn't been around long and now according to a report from DigiTimes Android 5.0 codenamed Jelly Bean will be out in the 2nd quarter of this year. It's possible that Jelly Bean could port Chrome OS to mobile devices.
