Video: hands on with the PlayStation Vita

We get hands on with the PlayStation Vita. At the 2011 Tokyo Game Show, the main attraction has been the massive Sony booth. The company has 70 of its new PlayStation Vita game consoles for hands on playtime.

Attendees lined up for over an hour to get a few minutes on one. The Vita has touch screens on both the front and the back and dual control sticks, along with the traditional controls found on the PSP.

It will cost about 30,000 yen for the 3G version and 25,000 yen for the wi-fi only version. Despite the advanced controls and price, Sony has insisted the game will also be attractive to more casual gamers.

A host of new devices and software for casual gamers was on display at the show. These included the Sony Ericsson game phone called Play, and offerings from Gree, a Japanese online game company that is on the offensive.

Inexperienced gamers that tried the Vita for the first time came away impressed. The show, one of the world's top showcases for new games and hardware, ran from last Thursday through to Sunday.
