5. Skype for Android
- Reviewed on: 11 October 10
- RRP: Free
- Rating:

Skype for Android is a useful way to make free VoIP calls without using up your mobile phone minutes. And most people will probably be happy to have an alternative way to make calls when indoor mobile reception is poor. If and when this app is updated to include video calling, it will become a five-star app.
4. Google Maps Navigation for Android
- Reviewed on: 22 October 10
- RRP: FREE
- Rating:

Google Maps Navigation is a useful app. It works well and as it’s free, it's excellent value for money too. If you don’t want to invest in a sanav, Google Maps Navigation is a worthy download from the Android Market.
3. ArtStudio for iPad - draw, paint and edit photo
- Reviewed on: 6 December 10
- RRP: £3.49 inc VAT
- Rating:

ArtStudio is a nice application to use, and once you understand that you need to tap and hold on a tool to reveal its many customising options, you’ll see just how powerful and versatile it can be.
2. MyBackUp Pro for Android
- Reviewed on: 21 January 11
- RRP: $4.99 (about £3)
- Rating:

MyBackup Pro for Android is a great app that performs an important function that is unfortunately absent in the core Android OS. The only feature we would add would be remote backup and wipe capability so you could secure your device in case of loss or theft. Other than that, MyBackup Pro is just about perfect. If you want to try it out before you purchase it, a 30-day free trial version is also available.
1. Ignition
- Reviewed on: 12 July 10
- RRP: £17 inc VAT
- Rating:

As apps go it's not cheap, but we're smitten with LogMeIn Ignition. Easy to install and use, cool and practical. On the iPhone or a Google Android smartphone it makes remote access of your desktop PC simple, and useful. And on the iPad or an Android tablet, it makes Apple's uber gizmo as useful as a high-end laptop.
