Apple’s 27in LED Cinema Display makes a great companion to any Mac that uses a Mini DisplayPort connection, but is especially well suited to Mac portable users who can take advantage of the provided Mag Safe power connector and the display’s USB ports to attach keyboards and other peripherals. Its glossy screen and lack of easily accessible colour and ergonomic adjustments might turn off some users, but for most fans of the Mac aesthetic, this display will fit nicely into both their workflow and their workspace.

As you might expect of a screen of this size for this small amount of money, the Iiyama ProLite E2710HDS isn’t outstanding in any area. However, it doesn’t conspicuously fail either, and that’s something of a triumph given the low price. The best low-budget big-screen monitor we’ve seen yet, the Iiyama works well for games and movie watching, with the odd bit of work thrown in.

The Iiyama was great value for money, but this LG E2750V is a higher quality 27in screen if you take the trouble to set it up well. It makes the large number of pixels feel extremely compact, and the slew of interesting features (such as the versatile frame and in-menu options) add to the overall pleasure of a very well planned and executed product.
