The Philips 248X3LFHSB/00 is a good-looking monitor rendered all the more interesting by its blue illuminated Lightframe bezel. Designed to reduce eye-fatigue and stress, we found this feature actually works as described, making the display very relaxing to use. However, at £220, the price is considerably higher than that of the average 24in display – especially when you can find superior performance IPS displays for less than £150.

The ViewSonic VP2765-LED's image quality isn’t bad for a professional-grade monitor, but there are better and cheaper options available.

The AOC myPlay I2757Fm is a good-looking monitor which performs well and is great value for money at £230. However, build quality is a little less luxurious to the touch than it is to the eyes. MHL support is very handy for Android users who can hook up and charge their devices with a single cable.

The Asus PA248Q is aimed at serious graphics professionals and enthusiasts and delivers great performance and plenty of features for the money. It offers more screen space than a typical 24inch display and offers a full set of adjustments and comes calibrated.

The Dell S2440L is constructed to a very high standard, the edge-to-edge glass adding a touch of class to its already very clean minimalist lines. The display itself is capable of impressive performance. It's not the cheapest 24inch display you'll find, but feels well worth the money.
