Sony IFA rumours
The event itself is due to start at 3:15pm UK time (4:15pm local time) and the rumour mills are suggesting that Sony could use this press conference as the platform to launch its new flagship smartphone the Xperia Z1.
Sony has added fuel to this smartphone rumour fire, by stating on it’s official blog that the press conference taking place today is “*1* not to be missed”. Subtle eh? See also Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear launch: Live video stream.
So far the rumoured specs for the Sony Xperia Z1 are pretty slim, but the general consensus is that it will feature a whopping 20MP rear-facing camera, a quad-core processor and a dazzling 5-inch full HD display. See: New iPhone 5S release date (update)
Tuther rumours suggest that Sony is set to launch two camera lens accessories for its own phones, as well as other Android and iOS smartphones. Take a look at Google Nexus 5 release date, price and specs too.
The lenses are understood to capture images independently and then send the files via Bluetooth to your Android or iOS PlayMemories app. The two lenses expected to launch are the QX10 18MP and QX100 20.MP.
Finally, Sony is also expected to announce several updates to its laptop range, but details of exactly how it will update the laptops is thin on the ground.
