Olixar FlexiShield Gel Case

  • RRP: £5.99

Cheap and cheerful, the £5.99 FlexiShield clips on to the rear of the Samsung Galaxy S6 without adding bulk, aiding grip and protecting it from bumps and scrapes. Slightly raised from the screen, the FlexiShield can also keep the Quad-HD panel from coming into contact with hard surfaces when placed face down. The gel material is strong and durable, and available in blue, light blue, purple or clear.

Mophie juice pack for Samsung Galaxy S6

  • RRP: £89.95

You've probably heard of Mophie, the brand with the best reputation for smartphone battery cases - and with good reason. Its cases are the best built, most reliable on the market.

Obviously they add bulk to the S6, which is a shame given it is so sleek - but the battery life can suffer thanks to its AMOLED screen, so the Mophie is a good choice if you need to keep going long into the night.

Proporta Leather Sleeve

  • RRP: £24.95

Protecting your Samsung Galaxy S6 from every angle is this real leather sleeve from Proporta at £24.95. It's soft and durable, with a microfibre lining to protect the screen. The slimline case adds little bulk and weight. Plus, with a free lifetime exchange warranty you'll never need to buy another case for your Galaxy S6 again.

Ted Baker Leather Style Hard Shell

  • RRP: £29.95

Those leather flip cases that let you carry a couple of credit cards with your phone are very useful, but not everyone wants to hide away the screen. It can sometimes be scratched by the cards rubbing against it, too.

We like this different take on the concept by Ted Baker. It's not real leather but it looks stylish, a tough rear shell for your Galaxy S6 featuring an outer pocket.

Griffin Survivor All Terrain

  • RRP: £49.99

The Griffin Survivor All Terrain has a bit of a rep in the phone indsutry for being the most heavy duty mainstream case out there, and the Galaxy S6 version is no exception.

It's guaranteed to survive a 2m drop and will keep out wind, rain, dust and anything else that could possibly ruin your beloved device. Just don't expect to maintain the S6's slimline figure; this case will turn it into an indestructible brick.

Cover-Up WoodBack Snap Case

  • RRP: £16.95

For something a bit different we love these real wood- and polycarbonate cases for the Samsung Galaxy S6 made by Cover-Up. The company lists 13 real-wood cases with a variety of wood finishes and inlaid patterns, which clip on to the rear of the phone offering lightweight but solid protection. All WoodBack cases are cut and hand-finished in its South Wales workshop, and this Walnut version is just £16.95 from its online store.

Carved Satellite Series Traveler Case

  • RRP: $59

Carved makes beautiful handmade wooden cases for the Samsung Galaxy S6. Made from real wood, each design is unique. Carved says they are "premium, one-of-a-kind cases, inspired by the beauty of our earth", and we couldn't agree more.

What we especially like about the Satellite Series is that you get to design your own using one of 50 gorgeous designs. These are $59 (approx £40) each, with international shipping costs of $3.99 (approx £2.79).

Carved also offers a selection of ready-made Samsung Galaxy S6 cases on its site at the cheaper price of $29 (approx £20).

The Traveler Case features a wooden back panel, inlaid in a tough polycarbonate shell. It's flexible enough to make taking it on and off the Samsung Galaxy S6 easy, yet tough enough to protect it from any damage. A slightly raised lip at the front protects the S6's screen when placed face-down, while super-grippy edges prevent it slipping from your hand.

Far from the bulky design you might expect from a real-wood case, the Traveler Case is super-slim, adding very little bulk and weight to your smartphone. Our S6 was able to wirelessly charge without us first needing to take off the case.

Each Carved case comes very well packaged, with a charming thank you note, Carved stickers and a collector's card with information about the member of the team who made your case - a nice touch.

Xqisit Flipcover

  • RRP: £19.99

Another flip case, but one that flips from top to bottom and therefore leaves all controls accessible, the Xqisit Flipcover for Samsung Galaxy S6 is a good buy from Amazon. This synthetic leather case features an integrated hard case to keep the S6 safe. It's available in black or white.

RhinoShield Bumper Case and Screen Protector

  • RRP: £32

The RhinoShield Bumper Case offers a great way to protect your Samsung Galaxy S6 without obscuring its beautiful design or getting in the way of its built-in wireless charging. A lightweight (12g) matte rubber shield wraps around the edge of the phone, preventing the glass on the front or rear from coming into contact with hard surfaces. It's designed with EggDrop technology, which absorbs impact of at least 11.5ft. If you buy the bundle you'll also get Impact Protection front- and rear screen protectors, which will stop the glass shattering without detracting from the gorgeous quad-HD display.

The RhinoShield is available in dark blue or white, and there are cutouts for the S6's various ports and connectors. Rubber buttons slip over the S6's own metal controls.

Although Evolutive Labs ships its products from Hong Kong, the Rhino Shield bumper case and screen protector are UK-designed products. You can buy the bumper case or the screen protector as standalone products for $24.99 (£15.87) each, or get the pair in a bundle for $49.99 (£31.74) - it's an extra cent, but there will be less packaging. Shipping costs $6 (£3.81) either way.

Xqisit iPlate

  • RRP: £14.99

Similar to the above Olixar FlexiShield but made from a resilient polycarbonate, the Xqisit iPlate is the ideal clip on cover for your Galaxy S6. It's transparent with a high-gloss finish, and does well to show off the attractive handset it protects.

Verus Damda Slide

  • RRP: £19.99

Forget those leather flip cases with the credit-card slots that just about everyone will be carrying with their Samsung Galaxy S6. Like those cases the VRS Design Damda Slide offers storage for two credit cards, but it does so with style: the rear of the case slides open to reveal a secret storage compartment.

It has lots more going for it with a tough hardshell construction building in ample air space to absorb shock without the case feeling oversized. The satin silver design definitely appeals, too.

Obliq Slim Meta

  • RRP: £24.99

We really like this stylish Samsung Galaxy S6 case from Obliq. Its two-tone black polycarbonate and titanium space grey metallic-style back plate makes the Samsung Galaxy S6 look even more like an iPhone 6 than it already does - and for some of you that will be very good news.

It's slim, it's lightweight, and it has a matte surface to improve grip.

Samsung S-View Window Premium Case

  • RRP: £39.99

The official Samsung Galaxy S6 S View case costs £39.99. This works by attaching to the rear cover of the Galaxy S6 and adding a flip-out leather cover to the front, adding as little to the overall size and weight as is possible, and providing ultimate protection for the screen. The S View functionality is cool, allowing you to view incoming calls and messages, control music, check the time or weather and more without even lifting the cover. It's even clever enough to work out what colour case you are using and customise the background colour to compliment it.
