Apple iPhone 6s Leather Case

  • RRP: £45

If you've just bought an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s it's worth investing in a case to protect your smartphone from bumps and scratches. Here, we round up 36 of the best iPhone 6 cases and best iPhone 6s cases we've seen. (Also see our round-up of the best iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus cases.)

Note that there is just a fraction of a millimetre difference in the dimensions of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, so the cases in our round-up should fit both models. Even so, it's worth double-checking before you buy.

Apple offers its own cases for the iPhone 6/6s and the iPhone 6/6s Plus. The first option is the Leather Case. It comes in black, brown, blue and red, and costs £45.

It's lightweight and adds virtually no bulk to the iPhone, but you don't get complete device protection because the bottom of the iPhone remains exposed to give full access to the microphone and speaker. The screen is protected by the lip of the case, but we'd advise using a screen protector in addition.

Apple iPhone 6s Silicone Case

  • RRP: £35, US$35

Apple's second case for the iPhone 6 and 6s is the Silicone Case, which comes in black, white, pink, blue, green and red, and costs £25.

It's pretty similar in design to the Leather Case, so it depends which material and colour you prefer as to which one you might go for.

Apple iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case

  • RRP: £99, US$99

Apple has recently introduced a new type of case for its iPhone 6 and 6s with a built-in battery. It's pricey, at £79 from Apple's store, and you should note that third-party alternatives can be a lot cheaper.

However, should you wish to buy the Smart Battery Case, Apple says it will provide increased talk time of up to 25 hours, internet use up to 18 hours, and even longer audio and video playback.

Apple's Smart Battery Case has a soft microfibre interior lining to protect your iPhone, with a hinge design that makes it easy to attach the case. The exterior is soft-touch, and should feel great in the hand.

The Smart Battery Case charges over a Lightning cable, and works with the iPhone Lightning Dock also. It comes in Charcoal Grey or White.

X-Doria Defense Lux

  • RRP: £29.99, US$34.99

These smart looking luxury cases from X-Doria look the part and protect your iPhone well at the same time. The usual line of 'military standard' protection ring true and they aren't too bulky either.

The case is drop tested to resist falls of two metres onto concrete, so unless you're Tony Hawk you should be just fine.

Mariel Mirror Folio case

  • RRP: £34.95

If you're liking the idea of getting something a bit different to protect your iPhone 6 or 6s, but don't want to spend quite so much money, Ted Baker's new Six-Star-Style SS16 collection is stylish and affordable.

All Ted Baker iPhone cases are available through Proporta, but we particularly like this Mariel Mirror Folio case, which costs £34.95.

It's a floral-print case with rose gold accents and a flip cover that conceals a mirror, so your iPhone 6s can look great and so can you! Awesome!

Scuderia Ferrari fragrance case

  • RRP: £30

One of the strangest cases we've ever seen, this officially licenced Ferrari case comes in red or black and has a built-in eau de toilette spray. Yes, this is both a bottle of perfume and an iPhone case.

It's refillable, and comes with one refill, so you get a total of 50ml of either Ferrari Red, or Ferrari Black depending on which case colour you choose. We're not going to lie - the case is a bit bulky, and most people will think you're using a battery case.

We tried out Ferrari Red, and although these things are subjective, most people thought it smelled great.

The cases are available from Boots for £30

Native Union Clic Soft Touch Wooden Case

  • RRP: £34.99

The Native Union Clic Wooden Cases for iPhone are stunning. Hand crafted and precision enginerred from solid wood, they ooze style and sophistication. Each has a unique grain pattern, and there are six different colours to choose from: Olive/Walnut, Marine/Cherry wood, White/Cherry, Blossom/Walnut, Coral/Cherry and Black/Walnut.

Tech21 Evo Mesh Sport Case

  • RRP: £29.95

Tech21 make high quality tech protection, and in some instances we prefer its cases over the Apple brand alternatives (as with many brands!)

This particular model shows off the colour of your iPhone still (if you pick the clear one), while the rubberised back and bumper means your iPhone is safe from knocks and drops. If paired with a screen proector, you could easily chuck it in your bag and not worry about scrapes and scratches.

Cover-Up WoodBack Real Wood Matt Black Case

  • RRP: £19.95

For something a bit different we love Cover-Up's range of handcrafted real wood cases for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. Available in a range of finishes, and with prices starting at £16.95 from Cover-Up's online shop, these snap-on cases offer a super-strong polycarbonate shell with a real-wood skin.

Given the materials, every case is unique too. Cover-Up warns that your case may differ slightly from the photograph.

LuMee LED Case for iPhone 6S

  • RRP: £39.99

If you’re an infamous selfie taker, then you need to look no further than the LuMee selfie light case for the iPhone 6 and 6s. Used by celebrities including Kim Kardashian, the LuMee shines a light on selfies with poor lighting by providing evenly lit selfies even in dark environments. How? The LuMee features a series of tinted LED lights around the side of the case that can be easily turned on and off via a button at the back. The button serves two purposes though, as it can also be used to adjust the brightness levels of the LEDs so your face doesn’t get blown out in the photo.

It’s a great case to use if you’re going somewhere dark and want to take photos, but bear in mind that due to the bulky nature of the case the rear-facing flash can’t be used, as it blows out photos. It’s also incredibly hard to remove your phone from the case, which is good because it means it’s securely in place but will also take around five minutes and the strength of ten men to get it off.

Mujjo Leather Wallet Shell

  • RRP: £39.99

The most valuable thing in your pocket or handbag is not your wallet but your smartphone, so the Mujjo Leather Wallet Case for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus combines both with a handy opening that holds two to three cards as well as your iPhone. See the Mujjo store for full details.

It has a classy design in fine, luxury, stitched, vegetable-tanned leather, with suede-lined interior. There are the usual cutouts for ports and buttons so your iPhone remains ready to use at all times.

Mujjo has recently upgraded this quality case, strengthening the case with its Moulded Edge Technology, which protects the phone and increases the durability of the leather at its most fragile points.

This should extend the case’s life as it gets the rough treatment from jeans pockets and the like.

It's available in three colours; tan, black and desaturated grey. It's also available with the card pocket at a stylish 80-degree angle. See the picture here for comparison of the different models.

GEAR4 Oxford for iPhone 6/6s

  • RRP: £39.99, US$34.99

GEAR4's excellent BLACK range is out now, and this BookCase design is a particular highlight. The magnetic flap ensures a snug, slim fit which you won't think twice about chucking in a bag thanks to the full protection it offers.

It's got two slots for cards if you want to leave your wallet at home, and has a cool texture, plus you can use it as a stand for videos - a great all-rounder.

Nillkin Ultra-Thin iPhone 6S / 6 Sparkle Case - Champagne Gold

  • RRP: £19.99

Fed up with boring black leather wallets? We love this Nilkin Sparkle case in Champagne Gold. With a leather flip cover and a hard inner shell, the Sparkle case adds a touch of class to the humble phone wallet.

Moshi SenseCover for iPhone 6 Touch Sensitive Flip Case - Steel Black

  • RRP: £35

The Moshi SenseCover is reasonably pricey with an RRP of £34.99 but it looks awesome with its brushed-metal-effect design and transparent window, offers all-round protection, and even folds back to form a stand. You can see the time and date without opening the cover and, thanks to touch-sensitivity, even answer calls - you just swipe along the strip to take the call.

Opis Mobile 6 Garde

  • RRP: £24

The Opis Mobile 6 Garde is made from quality leather, and is available in five colours: Cognac (brown), Red, two versions of goosebump-style Black (Black 2 has red stitching), and Nature (grey).

Once fitted into the case, the front magnets snap it shut making the iPhone feel snug and protected from casual knocks, bumps, scratches and drops.

During a phone call the cover can be closed for talking, and there are cutouts for the speaker and microphone.

The most interesting thing about the Opis Mobile 6 Garde case is the lop-eared design that can be pulled back to keep the camera free at any time.

There’s space to keep business cards under the phone, and it can relax into a portrait or landscape phone stand.

OnePlus Sandstone Case for iPhone 6/6s

  • RRP: £15.99

For a bit of a laugh, OnePlus has made its very own iPhone case so your iPhone can get the classic look and feel of a OnePlus smartphone.

The case is made from polycarbonate and provides that textured finish which OnePlus is known for. It also has a cheeky 'Get a grip' inscription on the inside and the '#NeverSettle' tag.

A bonus is that the case comes with its very own OnePlus X invite which could be for a limited edition ceramic model or even a free phone.

Slicoo Natural Series Wood case

  • RRP: £26.99

Apple is all about metals: aluminium, Rose Gold, etc. But what about more natural material, such as wood? Case manufacturer Slicoo has a wide range of wood-backed cases for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and Plus models.

Choose from Rose Wood, Bamboo, Black Walnut, African Padauk, and others.

You get all the usual port and camera cutouts, plus a large cutout so you can still show off the Apple logo on the back of your iPhone.

Olixar FlexiShield Ultra-Thin

  • RRP: £8.99, US$8.99

Amazon stocks this ultra-slim transparent gel case for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s for a tiny £6.99. If you want to keep your iPhone looking as good as the day you got it, but also would prefer to look at the iPhone itself than a case that hides its beauty, this is the best compromise.

Incredibly flexible, the case is easy to take on and off, and it adds little bulk to your iPhone while offering protection from all angles. As you'd expect, holes are cut into the case for all the iPhone's essential ports and buttons.

Spigen Air Skin for iPhone 6s

  • RRP: £16.99

The Spigen AirSkin is very much like EnCase's cheaper Ultra Thin FlexiShield, protecting your iPhone without retracting from its design. However, this one's incredibly thin at just 0.4mm - in fact, it's the thinnest iPhone 6/iPhone 6s case on the market.

Spigen Neo Hybrid EX

  • RRP: £17.99

Another Spigen case, this one is specifically for the Rose Gold iPhone 6s. The Neo Hybrid Ex has metalised buttons for a premium design. The Hybrid Ex is a dual-bumper case for extra protection, with a crystal clear back and slim grip design.

Tylt Energi

  • RRP: £79.99

The iPhone 6s is said to have battery life to match that of the iPhone 6, despite having a smaller-capacity 1,715mAh battery inside. Nevertheless, if you find you struggle to get through a full working day without running out of juice, you can double up on protection and extra power with a battery case such as the Tylt Energi (also available for the 6 Plus and 6s Plus).

It's a little pricey, but incredibly useful. The Tylt Energi has an innovative, versatile design that features dual configurations, a protective case for slim-line protection, and a high-capacity power sleeve for on-the-go charging. With 3200mAh of extra power, you'll get a full charge and then some.

LifeProof Nuud

  • RRP: £79.99

The £79.99 LifeProof Nuud is also waterproof and shock proof, but doesn't have a cover over the screen. Instead, it claims to be waterproof by creating a seal around the edge of the touch screen. It does come with an option screen scratch protector though. Like the Fre, it works with Touch ID and is available in five colours, including black, black/blue, white/teal and white/pink, as well as white/grey.

Both Lifeproof cases do add some bulk to the iPhone due to their extra-protective nature, but we've seen much bulkier cases in the past.

OtterBox Symmetry Case

  • RRP: £29.99

Otterbox has a wide range of colours and patterns for its Symmetry Series for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s (we've picked two pretty bold options but there are simpler designs and colours available too).

Otterbox is known as the gold standard for smartphone protection and the Symmetry case certainly feels robust without making the slim iPhone into an Eighties brick. It's dual-material construction absorbs shock and withstands drops, and its raised bevelled edge keeps your iPhone 6 touchscreen safe.

EC Technology Ultra Slim case

  • RRP: £24.99

This interesting iPhone 6 case from EC Technology uses the iPhone's LED flash to light up the transparent case when you get a call or turn on the flashlight.

When you get a phone call the edges of the case flash and light up – great for alerting you to a call in dark places when you've got your phone on silent. And it looks kind of cool, too.

You'll need to go to Settings > General and then Accessibility to turn on LED flash alerts to use the case properly, but that's an easy task.

The lightweight case itself – boasting the usual camera and port cutouts – is transparent and feels robust with a decent hard polycarbonate bumper to protect from knocks, bumps and scratches. There's also a slider that makes it possible to fill-in light when taking photos.

olloCase for iPhone 6/6s

  • RRP: £24.99

We already love the Olloclip accessory that helps you take better photos with your iPhone thanks to several great lens attachments, but with the Ollocase it's made even better. You can protect your iPhone using the Ollocase and then attach the Olloclip lens quickly and easily to the top without needing to remove the case at any time.

It comes with rubberised bumpers and a scratch-resistant back, as well as a raised bezel on the front to protect the screen.

The Ollocase is available for £24.99, or just £16.99 when you buy it with an Olloclip iPhone 6/6Plus lens system - remember this price is just for the case, not the lens system.

Rhinoshield Crash Guard Bumper

  • RRP: £30

Much like the iPhone bumpers for previous models, this is a band which aims to add as little to your phone as possible, while providing top protection at the same time. The hard rubber with a tessellating pattern inside is designed to save your iPhone from an 11-foot drop. Buttons are covered, but there are cutouts for everything else. The Lightning port and headphone jack aren't as accessible as Apple's own cases, but protection of the bottom edge is better, so it's a trade-off you might be willing to make.

In the box you'll find plastic protectors for both the screen and back of the phone which will prevent scratches but may not stop serious damage if the phone lands on sharp objects.

Casetify iPhone 6s collection

  • RRP: £24.99

Casetify's fun iPhone 6 cases are completely customisable so you can add your own photographs to the pre-set templates provided. Just what Johnny Ive would have wanted… not.

There are also pre-created designs available to choose from for around £25.

The Casetify iPhone 6 cases are available here (and check out their Apple Watch straps!)

Incipio DualPro

  • RRP: £20

Incipio also offers an iPhone 6 case, this one called the DualPro. As the name suggests, it has two layers for extra durability, impact resistance and shock absorption. The case comes in various colour combinations to suit your personal style.

Case-Mate Barely There

  • RRP: £12.99

If you're looking for something a bit more subtle to protect your iPhone, the Case-Mate Barely There iPhone 6 case might be ideal. It adds minimum bulk and weight to the iPhone 6, and aims to make sure that the design of the devices itself can shine through.

Olixar FlexiShield

  • RRP: £5.99

Another case that might appeal to those who want something slim but protective for their iPhone 6 is the FlexiShield case. It's a bargain at £5.99 and is made with thin, flexible gel. It comes in lots of different colours, too.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone 6 Bumper Case

  • RRP: £19.99

We rather like the look of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone 6 Bumper case, too. It combines a see-through case with a coloured bumper around the edge. There are loads of colours to choose from, costing £14.99. You also get a screen protector included.

Cygnett WorkMate

  • RRP: £14.99

For the more clumsy iPhone 6 owner, there's the Cygnett WorkMate. It's got three layers, it's high-grip and it has anti-slip ridges around the edge. There are three colours of the WorkMate available: Blue, red or black, and they'll cost you about £10.

Griffin Survivor All-Terrain

  • RRP: £44.99

Another case with the ultimate protection is the £13.71 Griffin Survivor All-Terrain case for iPhone 6.

This one trumps both the WorkMate and DualPro by offering four layers of protection, including a built-in screen protector.

Nodus Access Case

  • RRP: £49.99

Another premium option is the Nodus Access Case range for iPhone 6. The Nodus Access case is available in either Flip Down or Portfolio styles, and is a clever leather case that fixes the iPhone in place using a super-strong bond. In our tests this worked just fine, despite our initial fears that the iPhone would slip out. The phone is easily removed with no residue from the bond, and can be removed and attached whenever you like. It's a neat, innovative solution that reduces the bulk you often get from phone cases.

From a style point of view the Access Case looks like a premium leather wallet, unlike the slightly cheap leather feel you get from Apple’s own iPhone 6 case. There is also a utility pocket to keep cash or credit/business/travel cards. Cases are available in Chestnut Brown and Ebony Black, from £49.99.
