Samsung Galaxy S41. Huawei Ascend G330

  • Rating: Rated 8 out of 10
  • Reviewed on: 6 February 13
  • RRP: £187 inc. VAT

The G330 is a useful update to the G300. Huawei's Ascend smartphone still offers incredible value, and is now supplied with a faster dual-core processor, a front-facing camera for video chat, and a few design tweaks that make it a more appealing handset to carry around.

2. Sony Xperia U

  • RatingRated 8 out of 10
  • Reviewed on: 8 June 12
  • RRP: £130 inc. VAT

The Xperia U is one of the best smartphones we've seen for under £200. For this price you get a capable handset providing higher performance than some more expensive rivals – all with a fantastic screen and a two-day battery life.

Samsung Galaxy S33. Huawei Ascend G300

  • RatingRated 8 out of 10
  • Reviewed on: 21 May 12
  • RRP: £100 inc. VAT

Huawei's Ascend G 300 has a few shortcomings in comparison to the best smartphones on the market, but its performance is well above that of the budget models with which it competes. With an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich promised, a large 4in capacitive touchscreen and fantastic battery life, the G 300's £100 price tag is unbelievable.

ZTE Blade 34. ZTE Blade 3

  • RatingRated 7 out of 10
  • Reviewed on:
  • RRP: £79 inc. VAT

The ZTE Blade 3 features a 4in  (480x800) touchscreen, 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 5Mp rear facing camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Its low price is reflected in the fact it has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (2.5GB of which is available) and no front facing camera.

HTC Desire C5. HTC Desire C

  • RatingRated 7 out of 10
  • Reviewed on: 27 June 12
  • RRP: £101 inc. VAT

The HTC Desire C is a nicely designed budget Android 4.0 handset. It could make a good first smartphone but doesn't have any outstanding features.
