At 6pm (UK time) this evening we hosted a live blog and video stream of the Apple iPad mini Retina Display and iPad Air launch event from San Fancisco.

After lots of rumours, Apple finally announced this launch event on 22 October in San Francisco where we saw the iPad and iPhone maker announce the fifth-generation iPad and a second-generation iPad mini. Apple also released the Mavericks OS (for free) as well as lots of other free software products, the Mac Pro, and new MacBook Pro laptops. See alsoApple iPad 5 release date, price and specs rumours.

Here's what we said about the launch before it happened:

iPads and more

The stars of the show will likely be the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 but Apple could well show off some other products at the event in time for the Christmas period.

It's almost certain that Apple will launch OS X 10.9 Mavericks which was announced back in June. Apple said it would arrive 'this fall'. A new Mac Pro is also a good bet and the MacBook Pro with Retina display and Mac mini are both in the possibility camp for a refresh.

A fourth-generation Apple TV will probably make an appearance and, who knows, Apple may even announce its rumoured television set. You're probably wondering about the iWatch but this is likely to tip up next year, although never say never.

Whatever Apple announces, we'll be bringing you it all as it happens so make sure you join us tomorrow evening at 6pm UK time for the news as it happens.
