Super Stickman Golf for Android review

Free

Manufacturer: Noodle Cake Games

Our Rating: We rate this 4 out of 5

It'll take you exactly one round on Beginner and four holes on Intermediate before you get hooked to Super Stickman Golf...or in other words five minutes.

Super Stickman Golf is the basically Angry Birds meets golf…and it's excellent. It features over 280 different holes, an ace 8-bit chiptune soundtrack and mad obstacles that include anything from floating water hazards to convertor belts. See also Top ten Android apps.

Controlling your Super Stickman is easy. If you played any golf computer game in the '90s then you'll have no problems getting to grips with this app. Simply touch the left and right arrows to aim and then hit Go once to select your power and then tap Go a second time when you want to stop the power bar and that's it.

The game is about as far removed from EA Sports' Tiger Woods game as golf can be. With Tiger woods you have standard holes with great graphics, however with Super Stickman Golf you have standard graphics with great - albeit unusual - holes. Super Stickman Golf for Android hasn't tried to make this game like real golf at all, that's why it's so brilliant. The challenges and obstacles you encounter in this game are completely farcical, but incredibly challenging…Not even players on the PGA tour could hope to birdie a hole that includes floating islands, complete with lakes and bunkers. Nevertheless, this game has got them and you need to negotiate your way around them to get a good score. Visit Best Android apps.

The best advise we can give you in this game is exactly the same as real golf. It's all about course management. If you just hit and hope, you're only going to get so far before you start submitting embarrassing scores. If you plan your way round each hole, then you've at least got a fighting chance at reaching the later stages of the game. One bad hole can make it tough for yourself, one terrible hole and your round is as good as over. (Grrrr.)

The game is completely free to download and play, but there is a few places where the app tries to make its money. You have the option to buy Golf Bux, which in turn allow you to purchase power-ups, mulligans and extra balls during a round. 150 Golf Bux costs about £2.50. In my opinions this sort of defeats the attraction of the game, especially as you earn Golf Bux for free as you progress throughout the game.
That said it's a fantastic little addition to your Android tablet or smartphone and I'm already gagging for my next fix of Super Stick Man Golf.

  • Overall: We give this item 8 of 10 overall

If you're looking for a fast and fun game that bears some resemblance to golf, then you can't do much better than this. It's nothing like real golf, but to be fair to the game, it doesn't pretend (that hard) to be either. Quick, easy to learn and addictive. Download it now!

Super Stick Golf is the supercharged sequel to Stick Golf, a 2D golf game for the Apple iPhone and iPad that has you navigating ridiculously complex and dangerous courses to drop the ball on to the green and into the hole.

    Driving Mad Golf for Android

Driving Mad Golf is what its makers refer to as a 'professional golf game' for Android. It's equal parts addictive and irritating, much like the great game of golf.
