ArtStudio is a powerful piece of artworking software for the Apple iPad.

ArtStudio is a very nice application and contains almost everything you could expect from a design program. Tap on the lower-right side of your window to reveal all available tools. Brushes are on the left, and tapping and holding on a displayed colour well will reveal a comprehensive colour chooser window.

ArtStudio allows you to work with up to six layers, which is what most high-end Apple iPad design programs offer.

The app also features a series of filters, and lets you export work as a multi-layered PSD file so you can edit it further elsewhere.

ArtStudio for iPad: Pros and cons

Pros: Many options and features; easy to understand once you get to grips with the interface

Cons: Some brushes and effects can take a while to load, as does the autosaving feature

ArtStudio is a nice application to use, and once you understand that you need to tap and hold on a tool to reveal its many customising options, you’ll see just how powerful and versatile it can be.
