BenVista PhotoArtist 2 includes dozens of tools that let you turn any photo into a work of art.

Unleash the artist hidden deep within you. BenVista PhotoArtist 2 includes dozens of tools that let you turn any photo into a work of art.

BenVista PhotoArtist 2 is a remarkable program, and remarkably easy to use.

BenVista PhotoArtist 2 includes more than 50 different types of filters for turning an ordinary photo into artwork. Choose a photo and then a filter - for example, 'Impressionism' which makes your photo look like an impressionistic painting. Then use a brush to choose the portions of the photo you want to use that filter.

You can mix and match effects with BenVista PhotoArtist 2, for example by using the Impressionism filter on sections of the photo, and Crayon on another. You also have many different controls for each filter, including how to blend and the opacity to use. You can also change the size of the brush, and more.

The free trial version of BenVista PhotoArtist does not expire; instead, any image file that you save is covered in watermarks. Paying the $79 licence fee removes the watermarks and gives you access to technical support.

  • Overall: We give this item 7 of 10 overall

BenVista PhotoArtist 2 does a stand up job of converting photos into artwork. And it's a cinch to use. However, BenVista PhotoArtist costs a hefty $79 (around £56), and while hobbyists will enjoy PhotoArtist 2, creative pros will find its tools limiting.
