Anonymizer Anonymous Surfing Platinum

£30 inc VAT

Manufacturer: Softline

Our Rating: We rate this 4 out of 5

It can be hard to protect your privacy while surfing the web, but Anonymizer simplifies matters.

It can be hard to protect your privacy while surfing the web, but Anonymizer simplifies matters. The suite comprises four privacy-themed products, including Anti-Spyware, a Digital Shredder and Nyms - but the main draw is Anonymous Surfing.

This is aimed at the throngs of users who need to connect to the internet using public Wi-Fi hotspots. Advanced encryption and proxy masking prevent outsiders seeing your IP address, plus the program can encrypt personal or financial information and step in to prevent keyloggers.

We found Anonymous Surfing to generally work well - we hardly noticed it in use - and, although there was the odd glitch with internal company websites, these problems should be quickly ironed out. But should you hit any problems, it's easy to switch off Anonymous Surfing.

The Digital Shredder makes a good job of clearing Windows' history, while Nyms allows you to create temporary email addresses to protect against spam - by using different email addresses for each site, you can identify which sites are sending out your details to third-parties. We liked these features, although we didn't find the Anti-Spyware to perform as thorough a job as the top antispyware packages.
