Physically more compact than the LG GBW-H10N Blu-ray Disc drive, the Lite-On LH-2B1S’s Sata interface bypasses the potential pitfalls associated with IDE connections.

The Lite-On LH-2B1S will burn writeable and rewriteable Blu-ray discs but, despite what its manual implies, only to single layer media.

When writing DVDs, the Lite-On LH-2B1S isn’t able to match the speeds of the fastest DVD burners. At its maximum 12-speed, it’ll take a minute-and-a-half extra per 4.7GB DVD. Plus it’s limited to four-speed writing on 8.5GB media and is quite fussy about Double Layer +R media, successfully writing to just one out of three brands in our tests.

Lite-On's LH-2B1S is a competent drive with an easy-to-use interface and a good software bundle. The Lite-On is unable to burn to Blu-ray at four-speed, and is fussy over double-layer media with its current firmware.
