Xerox Phaser 6180N

£394 inc VAT

Manufacturer: Xerox

Our Rating: We rate this 4 out of 5

The Xerox Phaser 6180N bears a distinct resemblance to the Dell C3110cn. However, the quality of Xerox's support and documentation may lead you to prefer the 6180N.

The Xerox Phaser 6180N bears a distinct resemblance to the Dell C3110cn. However, the quality of Xerox's support and documentation may lead you to prefer the 6180N.

The 6180N has a 250-sheet paper drawer in the base and a 150-sheet manual tray that can be accessed at the front. An optional 550-sheet drawer increases capacity to 950 sheets.

The 6180N supports both PCL and PostScript printing. We found the Xerox was slower than the Dell at printing text (18.2ppm rather than 20ppm), but faster with colour images (8.6ppm rather than 7.9ppm). The print output quality is somewhat mixed and slightly inferior to that of the Dell. Text has a slate-grey appearance, but is otherwise sharp and nicely formed. Colour images looked grainy, while we found photos printed on glossy paper looked a little washed out.

Running costs are reasonable, but the Dell works out cheaper to run. As usual, Xerox's documentation is excellent.

The Xerox Phaser 6180N makes a good printer for a small office that produces mostly text output, but the similar Dell Laser Printer 3110cn has lower running costs and cheaper upgrades.

    Xerox Phaser 6128MFP

The Xerox Phaser 6128MFP colour laser multifunction printer could be a good choice for low-volume users who have exacting colour needs. It sells for a nice, low price and produces high-quality output - but it does so slowly, and at a high consumables cost.
