When we reviewed the Mophie Powerstation Pro we loved its hefty extra battery charge but lightweight yet rugged body.
Mophie has now released a new version, the Mophie Powerstation Duo, that is a little slimmer, smoother and shorter, and can charge two devices at the same time. It’s also a bit cheaper, so we’re liking this even more. (There's also a smaller model, the £49 Mophie Powerstation Mini that doesn't pack as much charge but is slimmer and cheaper.)
Like the earlier, more rugged Powerstation Pro the Mophie Powerstation Duo packs a massive 6,000mAh capacity in its external battery.
In our tests we charged a flat iPhone nearly two and a half times over.

What’s really special about the Duo is its dual-charging ability that allows it to fully charge two flat iPhones.
Who has two iPhones? Families, couples, business colleagues, friends… When were you last the only person in your group with an iPhone.
With the Duo you can be generous to friends and family and still have enough extra power to fully charge your own smartphone.
As we pointed out in our earlier tests on the Pro model, charging the new iPad is another matter – even the giant 6,000mAh capacity won’t give Apple’s latest iPad (which has an 11,560mAh battery( a full charge. We managed about a 36% charge on the new iPad.
It’s not ideal but the new iPad’s battery is capacious so even a 40% charge should be enough to let you watch a movie if your tablet gives up during a long flight.
Not everyone needs the ability to charge two devices at the same time, and some may prefer the Powerstation Pro for its more robust casing.
We don’t think the Powerstation Duo is fragile in any sense but if you’re in the habit of jumping of trains, skydiving or getting into gang fights we’d recommend the more rugged Pro.
The Powerstation Duo is £15 cheaper and a little smaller than the Pro so this model has these benefits in its favour as well as the dual-charging ability – which you might just need in an emergency anyway.
You may wonder how often you’d use the dual-charging aspect, but we think it’s got a lot of potential for digital power convenience.
For instance, you’re going away on a business trip or holiday. That long train journey or flight will likely test the battery of not just your smartphone or tablet but those of your colleagues and family.
Parents, imagine the horror of little Johnny’s iPad going flat a couple of hours into a long-haul flight or car journey.
Business people, could you face that meeting after a long trip with no access to email or the web?
As we get ever more digital devices in our lives the Mophie Powerstation Duo is going to be a battery life saver you’ll always want in your briefcase or handbag.
