Kensington Contour Balance laptop bag review

£39 inc VAT

Manufacturer: Kensington

Our Rating: We rate this 4 out of 5

A stylish bag for notebook computers up to 15.4in screen, with additional zipped compartments and magnetic clasp handles

When it comes to laptop bags, the market is full to brim with choice, but ladies, if you're after something a bit more special and stylish than a traditional style sleeve – Kensington's Contour Balance range is for you.

The range, which comprises three different style laptop bags, is primarily being marketed at women and it's not hard to see why. On first glance, the Kensington Contour Balance Notebook Case bag we reviewed looked more like a stylish shopper that a Yummy Mummy might be using on the school run, rather than a business-style laptop bag. The brown fabric bag had a vanilla (or cream to us mere mortals) contrasting panel and internal lining, although if you're not convinced that brown is the new black, an onyx and white version is also available.

Even with a 15.4in laptop in the bag, the Kensington Contour Balance Notebook Case is roomy enough for all sort of paraphernalia from make-up to mobile phones thanks to three separate zipped section and numerous zipped and elasticated pockets. In fact, we managed to get a laptop and the entire contents of my suitably large handbag comfortably in the laptop case. Ideal for any ladies that don't want the hassle of carrying a laptop case and a handbag.

We were particularly impressed with the magnetic clasp that keeps the two handles together at the top - handy if you're partial to carrying your handbag on your wrist in a WAG-esque fashion.

Sadly the carry handles aren't padded and we can't help but wonder if those with more delicate hands than ours might find it uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. However, Kensington has thoughtfully included a detachable shoulder strap complete with padded section to ensure it doesn't rub or cut in to your shoulders. The water-resistant fabric is also ideal, in case you get caught in the rain or, like us, you have a tendency to be a little bit clumsy when it comes to drinks!

Kensington's Contour Balance Notebook Case offers a stylish and spacious alternative to other bags already available. Its price tag of £39.99 may put it at the top end of the market, but as it's trendy enough and roomy enough to double up as an everyday handbag, it's good value for money.

    Kensington Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball

Kensington's Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball is the first portable trackball I've found that's good enough to earn a place in my laptop bag, though it's not without its drawbacks (which, interestingly, have nothing to do with the actual ball).
