The Core Series Backpack is a shapely laptop backpack from Belkin
Carrying a laptop used to involve sporting a computer-shaped bag on your shoulder, but now there are many and various discreet options available. A prime example is the Core Series Backpack from Belkin, a fashionable and lightweight little rucksack designed especially for laptops up to 15.6in screen size.
The Belkin Core Series Backpack doesn't pretend to double up as a shoulder bag with additional and detachable straps, but instead concentrates on its function as a compact back pack. In fact, with its curvy design it could almost be mistaken for a parachute.
It's neatly assembled from coarse-weave strong nylon, with a double-zip providing the closure over the main compartment. Inside is a division for the laptop, lined with a furry synthetic material in order to avoid scratching any delicate portable within.

Also in this single compartment is a zipped pocket big enough for passports. Meanwhile on the outside, the lower zip gives access to a useful pocket big enough for battery chargers and extra cables. A small zip above closes a tiny pocket just large enough for a few pens and keys.
The Belkin Core Series Backpack is neatly finished by a small carry handle nestling between the shoulder straps. Our only criticism is that this handle is covered with a rubbery suede-like cloth that has a strangely cloying texture, not especially attractive to the skin of the hand.
But best of all about the Belkin Core Series Backpack, besides the attractive and shapely design, is the low weight factor. With all the efforts that laptop manufacturers now go to to slim down their portables, it would almost count for nought if the carry bag weighed several kilos. The Belkin Core Series backpack comes in at a svelte 630g.
There's a choice of three colour schemes: midnight/denim blue, dune/ash, and the pitch black/soft grey illustrated here.
