The Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 is a me-too netbook with Intel Atom processor, 10in screen and Intel GMA 950 graphics. Oh, and a great price.
So successful was the original MSI Wind netbook design that companies such as Advent and Medion decided that rather than make their own netbook, they'd simply put their own logo on MSI's mini laptop. The Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 is the latest example of such rebadging.
MSI was one of the first companies to offer a netbook powered by the Intel Atom processor. The Wind also took the now-ubiquitous 10in screen, adding three USB and Intel GMA 950 graphics; so the Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 is certainly built on an established platform. It also keeps the same solid and eminently typable keyboard and matt-finish 10in display. But there are enough deviations from the older versions of the MSI Wind to make the Hannsnote a contender in its own right.
In terms of styling, the Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 comes in all-black or white finishes, with an inset metal trim on the lid (bizarrely inscribed ‘find yourself'). Lifting the lid shows the row of status LEDs on the right palm rest have been redesigned with a single semi-opaque inlay to shroud tell-tale lights for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, battery alert and disk activity.

There's a subtle facelift to the Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1's touchpad area too, with the pad surface now smoothly running into the bodywork; and separate left/right click buttons in place of the MSI centre-pivoted single bar.
Wireless specifications have differed across various Wind models over the past year, and the Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 is well stocked here, using a Ralink 802.11b/g/draft-n card, along with Bluetooth 2.0. Also bolstering Hannspree's netbook is the fitting of the large 6-cell battery, giving useful unplugged uptime. Like other Winds though, it tends to teeter backwards, especially when the screen's angled back.

The Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1's 160GB hard disk has been partitioned with 39GB reserved for the operating system and applications, and 106GB left for other storage.
The Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 managed a battery life of 6 hrs 15 mins when put through our MobileMark tests - a time comparable to that of other on six-cell MSI Wind netbooks.
The Hannspree's overall performance was marginally higher than normal though. Despite using the same Intel Atom N270 as every other Wind-alike, the Hannspree HannsNote SN10E1 scored 37 points in our WorldBench 6 real-world speed benchmark.
