Navman N20

Navman's N20 includes NavPix, which allows you to select a destination by picture but not, on this model, to take them. NavPix is a way of navigating using pictures. Save a series of thumbnails of saved or downloaded locations. The N20 stores the location of each photo with the image file. However, there's no built-in camera on this model, so pictures have to be downloaded or imported via your PC.

This slim device comes with a car charger and a USB lead, and boasts a five-hour battery life. The windscreen-mounting system is simple to use, and its 3.5in widescreen touchscreen is easy on the eye. There are four separate navigation keys allowing quick access to popular features.

Combined with an intuitive interface, this makes the N20 easy to use.

The N20 supports full address and UK postcode entries. Its GPS quickly found our position and gave us sensible routes. In use the screen offers a smooth 3D render of the landscape, accurate to 5m. You get a scrolling map with next-turn arrows and clear vocal guidance in plenty of time, although it's not the loudest kit we've tested. An in-journey menu that allows you to avoid part of a route or divert around an accident is included. When you go wrong it quickly calculates a new route. There's a petrol-station finder button, and you can download loads of POIs from Navman's site, including a speed-camera database.

The N20 comes with UK maps preloaded on an SD card. A supplied CD has loads more European TeleAtlas 2006 maps.
