Konica Minolta 2480MF

This review appears in the August issue of PC Advisor, available now in all good newsagents.

Built around a colour laser engine, the 2480MF is a colour printer, scanner, copier and fax machine all in one.

The print facilities are the most important and it delivers a maximum resolution of 2,400x600dpi. The 96MB of onboard memory is fine, but it comes with only a 200-sheet paper tray as standard. A 500-sheet feeder is optional, but the 100-sheet output tray makes large loads difficult in any case. A PictBridge port is included.

The 2480 is fairly fast at mono prints, reaching 15ppm (pages per minute). Text is crisp and steady, while colour output, though fairly good-quality, is only 2.2-2.9ppm.

The Konica makes a decent scanner – images are fairly faithful and well shaded – and works pretty well as a fax machine. The software interface offers plenty of flexibility.
