SanDisk’s Sansa Fuze may look like the iPod Nano, but this flash-based MP3 player packs in more functionality.
The SanDisk Sansa Fuze makes a great first impression. At 50x7x78mm, it fits nicely in your hand. I tested a sleek black 4GB model; at E99 (£77), it’s about £20 cheaper than the same-capacity Nano. (The Fuze also comes in 2GB and 8GB versions, priced at E79 and E129, respectively.)
The SanDisk Sansa Fuze's robust feature list includes support for subscription services such as eMusic, Napster, and Rhapsody To Go. The player also has an FM tuner with 40 presets, a voice recorder and microSD expandability.
The SanDisk Sansa Fuze performed very well in our lab tests of its audio quality, with sound comparable to that of the Nano and the iPod Touch, two of the best-performing flash players we’ve tested.
Video playback isn’t as impressive, though: the SanDisk Sansa Fuze's screen has a 220x176 resolution, and it isn’t as crisp as the Nano’s 2in, 320x240 display. You also must convert all video files to a proprietary format using SanDisk’s bundled software.
SanDisk's Sansa Fuze will be available in the UK later this month, in black only.
SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4GB scored:
9.1 out of 10
great build qaulity and easy to use and transfer files onto, at least it uses the standard windows software and not a 3rd party program that moves and reformats half you files for you. overall top product
the scroll wheel is a bit sensitive for use on the move, but it may just be my fat fingers
Great MP3 with a cool wheel to navigate through the menu.
No bad points. Not as good as a Cowon D2 for sound quality.

Star Rating:
Duration of ownership: 6 weeks
Strengths:
Solid, easy to keep in hand, easy to use menu, good sound
Weaknesses:
Plasticky, sharp lines not so many features compared to other players
Overall Evaluation:
First of all, I'd like to point out that I use my player for music listening mostly. The player is rather small but the screen is big enough to see everything clearly. Moreover, the screen is durable, I have no scratches on it. It's easy to hold in my big hand. The menu is comfortable to navigate.
