Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i review

The Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i is a compact handset measuring 106x48x16mm, which features a rugged aluminium and plastic casing complete with a 2.2in reflective screen.

According to Sony Ericsson the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i is splash- and dust-resistant and, while we like these qualities, we can't help but find a couple of tiny flaws in the phone's design.

First, the back is difficult to remove. Once we'd fought our way through the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i's case lock, which is similar to the head of a screw and needs to be turned 90 degrees with a coin, we had difficulty sliding the cover off the device.

And the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i's tiny keys take some adjusting to. Anyone with normal size thumbs will cover two keys at a time, in some cases three – which may slow you down when dashing off a quick text.

However, minor gripes aside, we are otherwise impressed with the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i. The Cybershot moniker means photography is an important function - covered in the form of a 3.2Mp camera with 2x digital zoom.

We like the lens cover that keeps the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i's lens clean and scratch free. Images are sharp and clear with good levels of detail. Auto Face Detection technology makes it easy to pick out faces as the subject of shots. For those that need a little extra work, the Photofix function performs basic edits to further improve the images.

Finally, we welcome the addition of an LED flash that allows you to use the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i to take clear pictures at night and in poor lighting conditions.

The built-in GPS function means images are geo-tagged with their location. Scroll through the gallery of images, click ‘View on Map' and you'll see a Google Map displaying the location the image was taken. During our tests the location was accurate to within 50m. With a trial version of Wayfinder, which comes bundled with the device, you can use the Sony Ericsson Cybershot C702i's GPS to access turn-by-turn directions, too.

For no reason this phone decicides to shut itself down several times a day this usually happens when you are about to use it. I have found it really unreliable and can't wait to get rid of it. I have had annual upgrades from the k750i k800i all have been great phones however erricson have got somthing wrong with this one. I will not take another chance erricson. This is a real turkey phone. My advice is don't bother.
