Although the HTC One and HTC One mini look like very similar smartphones, there are a number of differences between them in both price and specification. We've broken this down into sections so you can see how they compare. Take a look at The 13 best Android phones: What's the best Android phone you can buy in 2013?

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Price

How much you're willing to spend on a smartphone is going to be key in deciding between the HTC One and HTC One mini. We won't try and compare the ever changing and almost endless amount of contracts out there so we'll stick to SIM-free prices. See also: HTC One mini review.

Unsurprsingly, the HTC One mini is cheaper with a price of £379. To get the flagship HTC One you'll have to pay around £500.

Bare these prices in mind as we look through the specifications of these two HTC smartphones.

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Design and build

As we've already said, the HTC One and its mini brother look extremely similar. The HTC One mini is, of course, smaller but not by much. Both phones are the same thickness but there is a small difference in weight.

Each has the aluminium uni-body but a something to point out is that the HTC One has Gorilla Glass 2 and the HTC One mini has Gorilla Glass 3.

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Storage

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Cameras

HTC has decided to fit the HTC One mini with the same 4Mp Ultrapixel camera as the HTC One. That's great news for those wanting to save cash by opting for the mini version.

However, it's worth noting that the front camera offers lower quality snaps at 1.6Mp and only 720p video instead of Full HD. It's not a bad downgrade though.

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Connectivity

Although both the HTC One and HTC One mini support 4G LTE mobile networks via the Micro-SIM slot, there are a few connectivity differences you should be aware of.

The HTC One's infrared transmitter which can control devices such as your TV is not found on the HTC One mini. It also doesn't have an NFC chip on-board for transferring content to another phone or making payments.

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Software

Software is one area where the HTC One and HTC One mini are identical. Both run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC's Sense 5 user interface overlay so you get thing like HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe and HTC BoomSound no matter which device you plump for.

HTC One mini vs HTC One: Battery life

Both the HTC One and HTC One mini have non-removable batteries so you'll have no opportunity to switch if you run out of juice. They are difference capacities but interestingly, going by HTC's numbers, the HTC One will give you more talk time but the HTC One mini will last longer on standby.

There's no point us calling a winner here as the HTC One is clearly the superior device. It's really up to you to decide whether the extra money is worth it and it's a tough call. Key things to point out include the HTC One's lower storage capacity and lack of infrared and NFC.
