BeAHeadCase bottle opener iPhone case review

£19.99

Our Rating: We rate this 3.5 out of 5

The BeAHeadCase bottle-opener iPhone case is a fun, novelty iPhone accessory that will make you popular at parties.

Some iPhone cases are super protective. Others offers handy functions, such as the Mophie battery case. The BeAHeadCase iPhone case has one really simple extra feature: it has a bottle opener on the back.

Now that the sun has finally started shining the bottle-opening BeAHeadCase iPhone case is going to make its owner the go-to-guy at barbeques and parties this summer.

The case itself fits the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, and is made of tough rubber-coated ABS plastic case.

It back features a stainless steel bottle opener and sturdy can tab for opening drinks.

The bottle-opener iPhone case is surprisingly minimalist for such a tool, and looks and feels rather stylish. Its slip-resistant rubber casing makes a lot of sense when you consider its users might be getting intoxicated while using it.

If the case does slip from the hand of the user also holding a bottle or two it does provide a level of shock absorption plus impact and scratch protection thanks to its chamfered front edge. All the usual port cutouts are included so charging, dock connection and button operations can still take place without removing the case.

While BeAHeadCase claims that the case is “moisture-proof” there is an obvious concern around getting your precious iPhone too close to a shaken-up bottle of beer and ice buckets. Also handing round your phone to drunk mates and total strangers may invalidate your phone insurance!

We’d recommend you do all the opening rather than handing over your iPhone to the guy who knows your mate’s friend’s girlfriend.

There’s even a free app that records and maps every time a drink is opened, and plays a selection of customisable sounds and alerts. Users can log and share their drink consumption or check in on Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare, showing friends where they are partying.

The BeAHeadCase.com case is available in Union flag, St George flag, black or purple designs. Flag designs cost £24.99. Black and purple designs cost £19.99. Order from Avantquest.

The app is also a great idea, especially the social elements and sound effects – although if drinking on your own it could start ringing other sorts of bells.
