Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner

£70 inc VAT

Manufacturer: Pinnacle

Our Rating: We rate this 4 out of 5

The big selling point of the Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner is that it's entirely self-contained – it has 1GB of flash memory aboard, 200MB of which is devoted to drivers and the TVCenter Pro software.

The big selling point of the Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner is that it's entirely self-contained – it has 1GB of flash memory aboard, 200MB of which is devoted to drivers and the TVCenter Pro software.

This means you can simply plug in this gadget to any USB port and the software will load and run automatically, which is convenient.

Interestingly, the other 800MB of flash memory can be put to good use, too – you can store your channel list and EPG (electronic programme guide) there, and you can actually record or time-shift TV programmes. As well as recording in Mpeg1/2, the Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner can also record in the more parsimonious DivX format.

The Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner has a conventional co-ax antenna socket – you can use either the supplied 'stick' aerial (if you live under a transmitter) or your normal TV aerial lead.

The Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner's remote control is a little small, and you don't get any Teletext or interactive services.

The Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner delivered good-looking reception, but channel changing was a bit slow. It provides full PVR functionality, including live and scheduled recording and time-shifting. The Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick TV tuner's EPG is a little basic, however.
