Zoostorm Edge 5-7402

£1,399 inc VAT

Manufacturer: PCNextDay

Our Rating: We rate this 4.5 out of 5

This PC promises more performance than any other currently available – and its price tag of £1,399 is appealing.

This PC is kitted out with the Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 processor. It promises more performance than any other PC currently available and its price tag of £1,399 is appealing. 2GB of DDR2 RAM ensures the E6700 has plenty of room in which to work, while the GeForce 7900 GTX is the fastest single graphics card you can find. Its frame rates were crushing, comfortably seeing off all previous PCs equipped with a GTX.

The 500GB hard drive offers acres of storage space, while the Creative SB X-Fi MusicXtreme helps create one of the best sound systems available. The DVD writer isn't the fastest available, but its speeds are still more than adequate, and the inclusion of a flash memory drive should offer some compensation.

AOC's flat-panels can be a bit of a mixed bag, but the LM928 is one of its better screens, offering a vivid and relatively sharp colour palette and a good 8ms response rate.

This PC is amazing value for money. Only the expensive PC Specialist system is faster. The Zoostorm, at a very affordable £1,399, is in our opinion the most stunning deal around.

Eclipse once stunned us by putting together an E6700 system for £750 (the Matrix i67N88-VSTA). And now it's gone even further this month, squeezing out the Eclipse Evolution i685n88s - a PC with the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 at this price.

Zoostorm 2-5406 Advanced PC budget PC

The Zoostorm 2-5406 Advanced PC sits at the foot of the chart, but it's got one feature that sets it apart from the rest: a quad-core Intel Core 2 Q6600 processor. This should give you a considerable speed boost when using multithreaded software.

Big names such as Mesh don’t produce many PCs in the sub-£500 range, so the Elite Value PCA comes as a pleasant surprise.

Generally, the Arbico CD6880 XL does everything well, but it doesn't excel in any one area. And that makes it hard to recommend.
