Arbico HS4670 Pro review - no-frills business PC offers solid performance

£629 inc VAT

Manufacturer: Arbico

Our Rating: We rate this 3 out of 5

The Arbico HS4670 Pro is a no-frills business PC, delivering powerful performance, up-to-date components and solid build quality. Here's our Arbico HS4670 Pro review.

arbico business PC

Housed in a CiT Templar system case, the Arbico HS4670 Pro business PC is fairly smart and understated, finished in corporate black with a textured mesh front. The box features a pair of front-facing USB 2.0 ports alongside analogue audio jacks and silver power and reset buttons. Installed in the uppermost drive bay is an LG DVD burner. Take a look at Group test: What's the best office PC?

Inside, we find one of Intel's latest Haswell processors, in the form of the 3.4 GHz Core i5-4670. This quad-core chip really offers too much performance for a business PC. It is sure to provide more than enough processing power for the most demanding of office users.

Performance is boosted further by the use of the latest 120 GB Samsung 840 Series SSD, which offers enough space to keep a full selection of office applications. It'll also allow Windows inevitable temporary files to swell in size without causing low-disk space warnings. However, that is all the storage you get. Without a hard drive any additional files will have to live elsewhere, such as on your network.

An Asus B85M-G motherboard is installed, which features easy memory installation via single-sided DIMM clips and USB 3.0 ports with speed-boosting UASP support. The motherboard supports four such ports, but only two are available for use as the the case offers only USB 2.0 ports at front.

Although this motherboard is built for a Windows 8 setup, this office PC has been supplied with Windows 7 to meet the needs of the majority of business users.

Arbico HS4670 Pro: performance tests

When tested with PCMark 7, we recorded a blisteringly fast result of 5543 points. This is well ahead of most of the competition, with the exception of Wired2Fire's Business Accelerate which features the same processor.

This performance comes at a price: we measured power consumption and processor temperature both when idle and when running intensive stress tests and found that, when pushed to the limit, the processor would reach 100 ºC in around four minutes, despite being fitted with a Xigmatek Apache aftermarket cooler.

You're unlikely to encounter such a scenario during normal office use, but Wired2Fire's system runs a full 25 ºC cooler under the same load and with the same CPU.

The HS4670 Pro comes with a Logitech MK120 wired keyboard and mouse combo with quiet, spill-resistant keys. But without a monitor, its £629 price tag makes the Arbico very expensive as an office PC. See all business PC reviews.

The Arbico HS4670 Pro delivers a basic set of features, but with outstandingly fast performance. The absence of large disk storage makes this system better suited to a networked environment where files are stored centrally. High running temperatures under extreme loads may be a cause for concern. But ultiamtely it's priced well beyond what a business needs to pay for an office admin computer.
