At £1,299, the Palicomp Core i7 Blitz 930-24 is the least expensive PC here, yet Palicomp has managed to squeeze in several decent specifications and pull off some really impressive performance results.

The Palicomp Core i7 Blitz 930-24 comes with the same ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card found in most of the competition, while its 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 930 processor is faster than the Arbico’s Core i7 920. With 142 points in our WorldBench 6 real-world speed test, the Blitz came in a close second to the (£200 more expensive) CyberPower.

The Core i7 Blitz 930-24's graphics performance is also very good. Palicomp has selected a stock version of the HD 5870 in comparison to the overclocked speed-boosted models chosen by Arbico and Eclipse, but the differences are minor.

Its Gigabyte motherboard supports both USB 3.0 and 6 gigabits per second (Gbps) SATA, letting you take advantage of the latest drive technology as new models become available. For now, the Palicomp Core i7 Blitz 930-24 houses a pair of 500GB drives in a Raid 0 array. This process stripes data across both drives to speed up disk tasks, but if one drive fails you’ll lose all your data. For this reason, Palicomp also supplies a terabyte (1TB) hard drive for backing up important data.

The 24in AOC monitor supports a full-HD resolution and includes a handy USB port. You also get a Blu-ray drive and a set of five speakers and a subwoofer, making the Palicomp Core i7 Blitz 930-24 exceptional value for money. All that’s missing is a solid-state drive (SSD).
