A newcomer to the PC Advisor charts, AdvanceTec’s first foray, the AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP, is a decent PC that’s dragged down by a disappointing processor.
At a time when the other machines at this price point are able to offer at least a Core 2 Duo E6750, the AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP’s choice of a humble E4500 seems something of a miscalculation. This isn’t an expensive processor and it certainly isn’t a top performer – in a competitive chart the AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP clocked up the lowest scores in our WorldBench 6 real-world speed suite and games testing.
The AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP offers some decent components elsewhere, even if its shortage of power gives it little chance of a high chart position. The 750GB hard drive is a stand-out inclusion, for example – indeed, this may be overkill. How many users really need this much storage space? The AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP's 19in Asus flat-panel display is also quite pleasing, producing a vivid picture and a colourful palette.
The AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP's 512MB 8600 GT graphics card is one of the less impressive in the chart, while the sound system is nothing out of the ordinary.
Verdict
The three-year warranty is impressive, but it’s not enough to earn the AdvanceTec AT-FX E430-AP a higher placing than fifth.
