Mesh Elite 9600 GT review

Manufacturer: Mesh

Our Rating: We rate this 3.5 out of 5

Mesh’s Elite 9600 GT is a solid performer as a business desktop, although with less impressive gaming credentials.

Coming in at £50 less than the top three systems, Mesh’s Elite 9600 GT is a solid performer as a business desktop, although with less impressive gaming credentials.

Using yet another Core 2 Duo E8600 processor, the Mesh Elite 9600 GT managed a strong WorldBench 6 score of 125 points. It too comes with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and a 22in monitor – in this case, the AMW X2210WDS. This display can’t match the features of the CyberPower Gamer Infinity XT Elite's model, but it does come with a digital input.

The Mesh Elite 9600 GT's nVidia GeForce 9600 GT graphics card can cope with plenty of recent games, but it’s well below the performance level of the ATI Radeon HD 4850 and nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+. As soon as you start to raise the image quality settings or resolution, framerates drop off sharply.

The case includes a multiformat memory card reader – convenient if you take a lot of digital photos. It also brings the Mesh Elite 9600 GT's total number of front-facing USB ports to three, alongside audio and FireWire connections.

The Mesh Elite 9600 GT's motherboard offers room for plenty of expansion, with both PCI Express and PCI slots available for additional cards and a pair of empty memory slots for RAM upgrades.

A set of Logitech 2.1-channel speakers provides adequate sound quality for listening to music at your desk or playing back DVDs. This presents the Mesh Elite 9600 GT with a distinct advantage over the CyberPower Gamer Infinity XT Elite and its built-in speakers.
