iLuv Mo’Beats review

£59.99 inc VAT

Manufacturer: iLuv

Our Rating: We rate this 3 out of 5

iLuv Mo’Beats is a stylish portable Bluetooth speaker for iPad, iPhone, iPod and other devices. Read our review to find out more.

iLuv’s Mo’Beats is a portable Bluetooth speaker stand that’s designed for the iPad, but is also compatible with the iPhone and other smartphones and tablets. See Group test: what's the best iPod and iPhone speaker dock?

After a few teething issues pairing our iPad to the speaker, which included some rather loud and startling beeps coming from the speaker itself, we were reasonably impressed by the audio quality, although we’ve heard better from similarly priced speakers in the past. Mo’Beats can reach high volumes, but audio quality drops the louder you go. It also sounds a bit tinny, and lacks a good bass punch. See all Audio reviews.

The product looks great, though. Its stylish, minimalist design compliments Apple products, and the iPad looks at home in the allotted stand area of the speaker. Visit Pure Contour 200i air review.

Another plus is that you can position your iPad in landscape or portrait mode, ideal for FaceTime or watching movies. If you have a case on your iPad, you might have to remove it for use with the Mo’Beats, though.

We found that the Bluetooth range is about ten metres, and the battery life satisfactory, lasting for a working day. It charges via Mini-USB.

iLuv also provides a carry pouch with the Mo’Beats for added portability.

  • Overall: We give this item 6 of 10 overall

If you’re after a good-looking iPad stand that adds a bit of oomph to your audio, then the Mo’Beats might be ideal for you. However, if you’re into your music and want a speaker to fill the room with high quality sound at your next party, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
