SoundMAGIC E10 review

£35 inc VAT

Manufacturer: SoundMAGIC

Our Rating: We rate this 3.5 out of 5

Impressive and affordable upgrade from your standard issue Apple earphones.

Looking for an upgrade to your iPod's Apple earphones? At £34.99, SoundMAGIC's affordable new E10 in-ear sound isolating earphones might be a good choice.

The E10 is a lightweight set of earphones available in four colours: black-silver, copper-black, purple-black or the colour we used for this review - red-black. The red set are rather bright and have red cabling, but the other three colour options have a more reserved black cabling. The overall design is stylish; the body is made from metal and the jack plug is robust.

In terms of audio quality, the E10 has fairly strong bass and, for those upgrading from Apple's earphones, sound in a whole other league; especially considering the price.

In the box, you also get a small travel pouch, a cable clip and three additional sets of silicone eartips in different sizes, so you can choose the set that seal in the sound best for your ears. The earpieces are quite comfortable, and block out most outside noise, however when turned up to the maximum volume, passengers on the train next to you will be able to hear your song choice loud and clear. Your secret guilty pleasure song may not be so secret for

One complaint would be that the earphones are lacking a remote control and microphone, which, if you're used to the ease of changing the volume and track via the remote control on your Apple earphones, can make having to reach for your iPod every time very frustrating.

If you’re thinking about buying a new set of earphones to replace the standard issue iPod ones, SoundMAGIC’s E10 is definitely worth considering. If you make good use of a built in remote and microphone however, you might find the earphones don’t fit all of your needs.
