Roccat has designed its Kulo stereo headset with one focus: the gaming experience. Weighing in at just 178g, the headset feels comfortable to wear even after hours of use.
The metal-reinforced headband of the Roccat Kulo is joined with a soft cushion and easily adjustable through eight levels of height. Flexible ear padding can be repositioned for a snug fit, while noise-cancelling tech lets gamers stay focused.
The Roccat Kulo has a sophisticated yet minimalist appearance: there are no gaming go-faster stripes here. Instead, metal and black leather are combined with smooth plastic to create a sleek finish. The metal headband gives the headphones a stylish edge, which could appeal to a variety of tastes. Indeed, their design makes them a perfect partner for video chat, listening to music and watching films too.
The headset's 40mm drivers use neodymium magnets to create a balanced, clear sound and a resilient surround-sound bass ambience.
A limber, noise-filtering microphone sits at a perfect angle for chat. This nifty design automatically mutes the mic when the arm is folded up, allowing it to be placed out of the way when not in use.
One small disadvantage is the fact that the headphones are wired - a wireless connection would perfectly complement the automatic mic-mute, allowing gamers to step away from the computer without first removing the headset.
The lengthy 2.5m cable includes a slim volume control. Its slider control glides smoothly to achieve the desired pitch, and is ideal for quick adjustment during gameplay. At the end are two 3.5mm jacks - one for the headphones and the other for the mic.
At around £46 online, the Roccat Kulo is reasonably priced for a wired gaming headset.
