Adidas and Samsung have teamed up to offer a novel approach to assisting with (and measuring the effectiveness of) your training regimes. The Samsung F110 brings your iPod, fitness-training system and mobile phone together in one easily portable, hi-tech gadget.

The Samsung F110 uses the same interface as the company's popular G600 handset and shares many of the same features. The F110 also adds a Sport menu and bundles a heart-rate monitor, which fits just below the chest, and a Pedometer, which clings on to a shoelace. Combined, the two devices can measure your heartbeat, stride, pace and calories burned.

The supplied in-ear buds fit snugly and didn't fall out during our rigorous workout. Tunes can be set up to play back as required, and all the usual shuffle and repeat options are present. The Samsung F110 also features 1GB of internal memory so, unless you’re running a marathon, you shouldn’t have to listen to the same tune twice.

Users are able to create training plans based on their specific goals; alternatively, MiCoach.com offers a selection of pre-prepared workout routines. Whether you’re preparing for a marathon, wanting to lose weight or hoping to improve your performance in a specific area, a ‘Personal coach’ will offer customised training plans and provide you with real-time stats for the calories burned, distance travelled and time spent on your current activity.

The statistics gathered by the Samsung F110 can then be uploaded to MiCoach.com in order to track progress. Here, data is displayed through a selection of graphs, while the site provides tips on how to make the most of your regime.

OUR VERDICT

The MiCoach accessories work well with the Samsung F110, which is lightweight and appears tough. If you’re looking for an all-in-one fitness monitor, and can’t bear to be away from your mobile phone while you’re out for a run, this may well be the solution you’ve been looking for.
