The blazingly fast Titan X58 i795R489 from Eclipse is one of two Windows 7 machines this month to reach the 150-point mark in our WorldBench 6 real-world speed test.

It's powered by Intel's 3.06GHz Core i7 950 - a processor that's delivering impressive results across the board. At £1,199, the Eclipse Titan X58 i795R489 is also one of the least expensive systems in this price category.

Windows 7 PCs will be available from 22 December 2009

The Eclipse Titan X58 i795R489 offers strong gaming performance, too. The 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card seen here is a souped-up Vapor-X model, which benefits from a custom cooling setup and high-spec memory chips. It boosts the stock 4890's core- and memory-clock speeds from 850MHz and 975MHz to 880MHz and 1,050MHz respectively. This enables the Eclipse to keep up with the nVidia GeForce GTX 285 cards found in more expensive PCs.

The Eclipse Titan X58 i795R489 comes with a pair of 500GB hard drives configured in a Raid 0 array. This setup offers a speed boost for disk tasks, but it takes only one drive to fail to cause total data loss on both. For this reason, the Chillblast and Arbico machines provide a third hard drive for data backup.

All the displays in this category are 24in full-HD models, and the BenQ monitor provided with the Eclipse Titan X58 i795R489 is a good-quality example. The rest of the specification isn't so exemplary, however, and it's clear that Eclipse has made some compromises to keep costs down. There are no external speakers, for example, and this is the only system not to be provided with a Blu-ray drive. Chillblast's Fusion Payload offers both these omissions without increasing the price, but lists only a Core i7 920 CPU.

Eclipse's one-year return-to-base (RTB) warranty also seems a little stingy when compared to rival offerings.
