The Sony SMU-M10 is a slim and nifty little travel mouse, only 15mm thick.

It is also lightweight and looks stylish, especially in the white version we reviewed. The Sony SMU-M10 is available in blue or black, too.

The scrollwheel in the centre of the Sony SMU-M10 is ergonomically designed and easy to use, even though it’s quite small in comparison to the one featured on the Sony SMU-C3 (see review here). As with the other new travel mouse from Sony’s optical range - the Sony SMU-C3 - the SMU-M10 offers a high level of accuracy due to its 800dpi optical sensor.

No installation of drivers is necessary with the Sony SMU-M10. Once the USB is plugged in it's ready to go.

The design of the SMU-M10 is very clean and minimal, with no individual buttons on the left and right of the mouse. Selection is instead carried out by pressing on either side of the mouse body.

If you are looking for a mouse offering a decent length of cable the SMU-M10 may fall a little short as it measures only 65cm. However it is adjustable and can be wrapped around the slot that runs along the edge of the mouse, also making it easy to carry without tangling up during travelling.

OUR VERDICT

Like the SMU-C3, the Sony SMU-M10 USB optical mouse is accurate and offers good responsiveness thanks to the 800dpi sensor. Its relatively short cable could restrict use slightly but the Sony SMU-M10 looks smart and is comfortable to use whilst being compact and incredibly light.
