For a powerful laptop, the Zoostorm 5-5005 is not overly weighty and is easily portable. The Zoostorm 5-5005's appearance didn't blow us away, however, and the dark grey plastic panel behind the keyboard cheapens the interior's design. We found the sunken trackpad and the keys below it to be far too small, but - surprisingly - they were not at all difficult to use.

The Zoostorm 5-5005 runs Windows Vista Home Premium and is well featured in terms of connectivity, supporting a, b and g wireless networks and Bluetooth. Plus there are four USB ports and a built-in DVI for connection to a digital monitor.

All that's lacking from the Zoostorm 5-5005 is a power switch for wireless LAN and Bluetooth. We noticed a tiny integrated microphone at the front of the keyboard, as well as a power saving button, but the Zoostorm 5-5005 suffers for its lack of quick access keys and a webcam. It makes up for this slightly with a TV tuner.

The Zoostorm 5-5005's 15in TFT screen display is clear and bright but suffers slightly from light reflections. We found the 1,280x800 screen to be great for viewing movies and games. Featuring an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 the Zoostorm performed well in our gaming tests, with smooth gameplay and an average performance score of 33fps.

With 2GB DDR2 memory and a hefty 160GB hard drive, the Zoostorm 5-5005 offers decent specs. The high-performance 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 copes well with advanced games and multiple demanding applications. And the Zoostorm 5-5005 performed best of any Vista laptop we've seen in our WorldBench real-world speed tests, scoring a whopping 89 points.

However, the Zoostorm 5-5005 struggled to keep going for more than an hour's use. And it's no looker, especially sitting alongside the Sony Vaio VGN-FE41E. Even so, the Zoostorm 5-5005 is powerful and well-featured laptop.
