The BenQ is a 21.5in flatpanel monitor that stands out with its gleaming white livery.

This makes a clean and striking impression, especially in tandem with the BenQ M2200HD's minimalist styling.

Nor does the BenQ M2200HD depend solely on its good looks: its external appearance is just one of its plus points.

The BenQ M2200HD offers a trinity of ports - RGB, DVI and HDMI - and is thus well kitted out for HDTV duties.

It offers very decent onboard sound and we were pleased to find you can plug in either speakers or headphones or attach peripherals using the BenQ M2200HD's USB port.

The menu system is one of the best we've seen. Many manufacturers hide the buttons away at the bottom of the screen, whereas the BenQ M2200HD has them running up the side of the screen. Consequently, they're incredibly easy to access, and they are clearly marked so you have no trouble working out exactly what to press next.

The range of possible functions is vast, too. AMA (advanced motion accelerator), for example, lets you cut the response rate down to a mere 2ms for use with games, while Senseye offers you a slew of different picture modes. And because the BenQ M2200HD offers a split-screen view of this feature, you can instantly see what effect each picture mode will have.

The other truly excellent aspect is the screen itself. The 21.5in BenQ M2200HD can go up to a 1,920x1,080 resolution. And because the aspect ratio is 16:9, HD content will be properly scaled to the correct aspect.

The BenQ M2200HD's image quality borders on excellent, though not everyone will be sold on its bright colour palette. The Benq's viewing angles are also less consistent than some similarly priced flatpanels.
