The 7in Parrot Designer Collection photo frame is lightweight but robust and solid with it.

When we received the latest digital photo frame from Bluetooth specialist Parrot, we immediately noticed its stylish packaging. Created in conjunction with designer Andrée Putman, known in certain circles as the Coco Channel of interior design, the Parrot Designer Collection digital photo frame is presented in a solid clear perspex box complete with a black and white chequerboard pattern, which reflects the monochrome design of the frame.

The 7in Parrot Designer Collection frame, which is the first product to be launched in Parrot's Designer Collection of USB devices created in conjunction with some of the world's most influential designers, is lightweight but fairly robust and solid too.

We love the Parrot Designer Collection photo frame's attractive black surround and monochrome black and white pattern that flowed around its sides.

If you rotate the Parrot Designer Collection frame from portrait to landscape or vice versa, the picture was automatically adjusted to the correct format. We also found that with the select and scroll buttons, which are located on the back of the fame, we were able to set the time, change the brightness of the screen, language, and even put the frame in sleep mode

Like other Parrot digital photo frames, the Parrot Designer Collection digital photo frame allows you to send images direct from our mobile phone or any other Bluetooth enabled device to the frame. It takes seconds to pair a mobile phone with the frame and then we could send as many images to the frame as we like, each of which was stored in the internal memory.

You can also plug an SD card straight from a digital camera into the Parrot Designer Collection digital photo frame and the pictures are automatically loaded onto the frame and displayed in a slideshow.

The 7in Parrot Designer Collection photo frame is lightweight but robust and solid with it.

You can copy the pictures straight to the frame although, with only 10MB internal storage space, we found it better to transfer the images to our PC and resize them, then add them to the frame using the bundled USB cable.

You can pick any picture from the memory or SD card and display it as a static picture, or have a slideshow of different images rotating round. The frame offers five different slideshows; a standard slideshow, three customisable slideshows in which we were able to define the images displayed, the length of time displayed for the transition used and a slideshow displaying the contents of the SD card.

The Parrot Designer Collection digital photo frame also allows us to scroll through the internal memory or SD cards and rotate images so they are always displayed in the correct format.

OUR VERDICT

While we love the design of the Parrot Designer Collection digital photo frame and its nifty features, the price is an issue. Ideal if you're a designer diva or a lover of Andree Putman.
