BenQ RL2460HT review: Build quality and Design

The RL2460HT is a 24in 1920x1080 TN display with an LED backlight. It has a 60Hz refresh rate.

Finished in matt black with subtle red detailing, the RL2460HT also has a matt-finish screen. The fully adjustable stand tilts, swivels, has 110 mm of height adjustment and can be used in portrait mode. Markings on the side mean you can note the height you prefer and quickly re-set the position if you ever move it.

The bezels are quite thick – not ideal for surround gaming - and you’ll find controls are on the right hand edge, which can be customised through the OSD.

At the back is a standard VESA mount for wall mounting and a plastic insert on the base for neatly routing cables.

BenQ RL2460HT monitor review: Connectivity and OSD

Inputs include a D-sub/VGA, DVI-D, and two HDMI. We were slightly surprised to not see a DisplayPort input, but considering it isn't a 4K monitor, the HDMI inputs are perfectly adequate. Being a gaming monitor, there's also an HDMI output which lets you record or stream your gameplay.

The benefit of this method is that it doesn't introduce and input lag or recording delay. You will, of course, need a suitable video capture device to do this.

The monitor has a pair of 2W speakers, which are unlikely to see any use but are there nonetheless. BenQ provides the ability to output and input sound through two separate 3.5mm auxiliary jacks.

The OSD is very easy to use and is well presented on the right hand-side of the monitor, which means you won’t be distracted by an OSD in the centre of your screen. Through the OSD you can adjust its blue light filter, response time, colour temperature, gamma, AMA (Advanced Motion Accelerator) which is used to reduce ghosting in games, picture modes, aspect ratio, and save three separate profiles and even customise the physical key binds.

These options are by far one of the most complete OSD settings we've seen in any sort of monitor. The options are well presented and allow you to customise the monitor to your liking.

BenQ RL2460HT monitor review: Performance

The monitor performed well throughout our gaming tests, where we found its AMA (motion blur) and instant mode (no image processing, so no input lag) features to really improve the experience in fast-paced shooter games. We did notice slight ghosting, but on the plus side its flicker-free technology and low blue-light features allows you to game for long periods of time.

There's also a game mode loader, which allows you to quickly load preset calibrations from well-known gamers across the world. This might prove useful, but your own eyes are probably the best judge of brightness, contrast and colour.

When tested with the Spyder5Elite, the BenQ achieved a gamut of 100 percent of sRGB’s colour space and an above-average 79 percent of AdobeRGB’s colour space. Also, great colour accuracy really sets apart the RL2460HT from other TN displays: we measured and average Delta E of 1.03 (lower is better). We didn’t notice any inconsistency in the backlight LED, and no backlight bleed was noticeable.

Finally, we measured a maximum brightness of 253cd/m2, which is certainly bright enough even in a sunlit room. Of course, the matt finish helps in those conditions as it isn't reflective.
