The "24-HOURS A DAY, 7-DAYS A WEEK" sports news channel has now found its way onto the Android app market. If you're looking to get the rolling news program, then you're barking up the wrong tree. This app is much more like a traditional website.

Probably one of the main reasons why you should download this app (if you like sport), is because Sky Sports News is one of the best media outlets for breaking a sports related news story. Its news station is pretty much the sole channel that sports fans can go to get the very latest sports news and it's pretty reliable too. As a result Sky Sports News' app also gets access to the channel's vast and constant inflow of sports news, which is a great foundation to build a news app upon.

Sky Sports News appThe design of the app is pretty flawless. Its branding is perfectly inline with the recognisable Sky Sports colouring and styling but more importantly, there is no clutter on your screen. This makes reading the ten top stories which are displayed on the app's homepage a simple task. The design also makes navigating yourself around the app delightfully easy also. In fact, you've only got three options on the home page, 1) The top ten news stories 2) Settings 3) More stories. Lovely and simple.

The aforementioned More Stories page is, like the rest of the app, set out in such a way that a two-year-old could work it out. Simply touch the More Stories logo and you then get the chance to localise your sports news down to specific sports. Once you've done that, the app gives you the option (via tabs) to narrow your data down to smaller categories these are each sport's 'Top Stories', 'Live Scores', 'Fixtures', 'Results' 'Tables' and  when the sport is 'On Sky.

As you've probably worked out by now, the third and final thing you can do with the app is also dead simple - and that is the ability change the app's settings. To describe this feature as minimalistic, would probably be an overstatement. All you can do here is adjust how often the app connects to the internet and refreshes its contents. If we were a certain Russian meerkat, we might be tempted to use a grammatically incorrect catchphrase to describe this page, but alas we're not, so we'll just describe it as "simple".

To sum up, this app is typical of what you'd expect from Sky. It's stylish, simple and effective. The news it displays is up-to-date and the app is easy to use. They'll even throw in a few videos for your enjoyment too. To borrow the memorable words of X Factor head judge Gary Barlow "well done"
