chub_tor - The problem lies with the sync of Outlook with Google Contacts and Google Calendar. I never found a way of satisfactorily achieving a sync of Google Contacts and Google Calendar sync was a bit hit and miss with two way ops. My problem lies with the fact that Outlook is my main email, calendar and contacts program and has been for many years. iCloud syncs far better than Samsung/Google.

The other problem I found with Kies that it wouldn't even let me view the phone's contacts and this was I suspect because I had imported Facebook contacts into the phone. Slow connection and sometimes no usb connection put me off Samsung.

Until you have used Apple iPhone and iPad and how they seamlessly integrate with even a Windows PC it is only then that you realise how far behind the competitors are. Yes the Samsung S3 is very good and has possibly more features than the iPhone5, is quite a bit cheaper and as a phone may be better, but it is the overall package that swayed me.

Having said that if you don't use Outlook then the Galaxy S3 may be the better choice.

I voted for the Nexus 4, but in reality, I'd still use my slimline Nokia 700 for actual phoning!

You can continue to use it if you already have it but you cannot download it. It is still around for business, paying customers. See Google Sync end of life

Samsung may make some good phones but to link to the PC then you have to use Kies and that is poor. You can have endless problems syncing contacts and calendar with Outlook. It's ok if you use Google mail contacts and Google calendar but exchanging data between Outlook and Google can be awkward especially now Google Calendar Sync has been withdrawn. By comparison the iPhone works seamlessly with Outlook and has a great array of apps with little risk of virus or malware. It also seems better built. Phone reviews never compare ease of PC sync.
