Microsoft has been distributing a small notification program via Automatic Updates that issues constant nagging reminders if WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) suspects you of running an unlicensed version of Windows.

Since it was revealed that the application ‘phones home’ to Microsoft there has been significant public outcry. In response, Microsoft has posted some helpful instructions here for manually disabling and removing the program.
